Japan Adventure
Getting to Japan & Important Info
Travel information
Flights
This escape will start in Tokyo and finish in Osaka, so we advise booking flights as follows:
✈︎ Arrival on Day 1: Tokyo Haneda airport (HND)
✈︎ Departure in Day 12: Osaka airport (KIX)
Arrival in Tokyo
We ask guests to try and book flights that arrive into Haneda in the morning or early afternoon of Day 1. Alternatively if your flight lands in the evening, we advise arriving one day before and staying at the “Mercure Haneda Airport Hotel”
Airport Assistance
We know it can be overwhelming arriving into a new country on your own after a long flight, and Japan can be a little intimidating when it comes to signage, information and language barriers, so we’ve arranged for a representative to meet guests at Haneda Airport arrivals from 9am to 5pm to assist with onward travel to our partner hotel in Tokyo. Whether you use the airport shuttle or opt for a private taxi, our team member will direct you to the correct place and assist with purchasing ticket
Shuttle bus from airport to our hotel
The “airport limousine bus” runs from 11:40-18:45 and is a convenient and affordable way to get from the airport at just ¥1,300 (£6.50) per person.
Tickets can be booked upon arrival, or online one month before
Taxi from airport to our hotel
The simplest and quickest way to get from the airport is by private taxi. The journey is approximately 20-30 minutes but is more costly than the shuttle at around ¥9,000 (£45). These do not need booking and can be found just outside the airport
Dietary information
Vegetarians & Vegans
Vegetarians & Vegans are always welcome on our escapes, and we do our best to accommodate, however Japan can be very challenging for these two groups as Japanese cuisine is very much fish/seafood based.
If you choose to book as a vegan or vegetarian please be aware that your food choices will be extremely limited, and you may not be able to enjoy the full experience.
Food Allergies
Japanese food is very seafood & soy based. It is therefore not recommended that people with allergies to these two ingredients join this escape.
Other allergies can be managed, although due to language barriers it may be difficult to communicate to restaurant staff, meaning that choices are limited to foods that we can guarantee fit your requirement.

This is a 11 night, multi location, group travel adventure exploring the fascinating country of Japan.
It is an immersive and adventurous experience, that will take guests from Tokyo, to Kyoto, on to Kunisaki Peninsula and finally ending in Osaka, where guests will experience all the culture, food and nature that Japan has to offer!
-
Our escapes are active, and Japan is no exception. Although all activities are designed to suit most people’s abilities we do advise a basic level of fitness in order to keep up with the group.
Days will be spent on our feet for the most part, and our time in Kunisaki Peninsula will include a 40km cycling tour and 10km trek. -
Japan (in our opinion) is not a country where you visit only one area if you want to truly experience it. Therefore we will be moving around to ensure guests have the most immersive and unforgettable experience possible.
Guests can expect to move to a new location approximately every 3 days, and travel days will vary from 2-3 hours, up to a maximum of 6 hours.

October in Japan is the bridge between Summer and Autumn. Guests can expect mostly warm sunny days in the mid-20’s (Celsius), however should be prepared for potentially chilly evenings. October is also a month where Monsoons may be present in the near vicinity so rain is possible for certain sections of the escape.

No this experience is neither “luxury” or “budget”.
We specifically chose accommodation partners that offered beautiful yet affordable accommodation to ensure we can deliver a comfortable, enjoyable experience that can suit most people’s budgets.
All accommodation is what we would consider to be 3 star and above. -
Japan is a nation that consumes a lot of seafood, and a lot of soy. If you are allergic to either of these things then we would unfortunately advise against you joining us for this escape.
Other allergies can be managed, but please understand that communication is often challenging and therefore if your allergy is severe (life threatening) then your choice of food may be limited to what we can guarantee is safe.
Serious allergies and complex dietary needs can be difficult to manage in some countries due to often a lack of understanding from kitchen staff when it comes to contamination of certain foods/products. Our priority is always guest’s health as well as (of course) their enjoyment of the escape, therefore in some circumstances we may advise against people with allergies attending this escape.

The escape will start in Tokyo and end in Osaka, both of which have international airports.
We therefore recommend guests book arrival flights to Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND), that will arrive in the morning or early afternoon on Day 1 of the escape, and depart from Osaka International Airport (KIX) on Day 12.
