Kenya Wild Bush Adventure

FAQ & Important information

We’re very excited about this Kenya Wild escape, but it’s very important to us that our information about this adventure is as clear as possible. We want to ensure that all potential guests are able to make an informed decision as to whether this is the right escape for them, so we’ve complied a list of FAQ’s, as well as additional information that we think is important to know before booking.

 FAQs

  • This is an 8 night, group 4x4 safari road trip from Nairobi, through Laikipia, up to Samburu, and back.

It is an immersive, adventurous wild camping experience that will take guests to places many of them could only dream of, and ensure that they get up close and personal with some of Kenya’s most amazing wildlife.

  • This is a camping experience, so some nights (2,3,4 & 6 you will be sleeping in ground tents.
Each tent has 2 separate beds/stretchers inside and will be shared with another guest.

Night 5 we will stay in one of Samburu’s most famous luxury camps, and nights 1,7 & 9 will be spent in a Nairobi hotel.

We decided to make accommodation twin shared to keep the escape more affordable, but private option is available for an additional fee. Please select this at the time of booking if you would like a private room.

  • Due to the nature of this escape we need to ensure cars are filled before we can allow guests to book flights. Although unlikely, If insufficient bookings are made for this adventure we may need to cancel or give guests the choice to proceed for a recalculated fee.
As soon as we have sufficient bookings guests will be notified they can book flights

  • We will always try to accommodate where possible, and most (non-allergy) preferences should be easy enough to work with, however this will be discussed on a person by person basis, and depending on the complexity of the requirement it may be advised that you don’t come.

Serious allergies and complex dietary needs will be difficult to manage in a bush camping environment, and our priority is guest’s health and of course their enjoyment of the escape.

    Vegans:
The vegan (or plant based) diet is probably one of the harder for us to provide good quality, and nutritious food. Our escapes are open to everyone, but please be aware that those wishing to eat vegan may not be get much variety of food.

  • One of our most frequently asked questions regarding travel to Kenya is whether it’s safe or not.

We want to be clear that it is our opinion that no country in the world is completely safe. There is crime and incidents in even the most developed countries so it’s hard to answer the question when applied specifically to Kenya.
For the most part YES Kenya is a safe place to be, and to travel. We lived in the country for 2 years without ever feeling threatened or unsafe. There is (however) always a small increased risk involved when travelling to developing countries.

We advise general situation awareness and normal safety practices that would be advised anywhere in the world (not travelling alone at night, not flaunting expensive possessions etc.)

  • This is a road safari, so most of your day will be spent driving to (and exploring) parks and conservancies in the 4x4, looking for wildlife etc. There will however be plenty of stops, toilet breaks, lunch breaks, and opportunities to get out of the vehicles.

  • Generally speaking wildlife will try to avoid interaction with humans at all costs. Predators do not typically see us as food and they do not like approaching noise, fire and safari vehicles etc.
That being said, camping in the wild does of course carry certain risks. This is why we have professional guides and rangers with us at all times to advise on how to behave and how to stay safe.

  • Some of the campsites we stay at will have physical toilet/shower blocks, but for the most part guests should expect a true wild camping experience (if you know what I mean). There will be fresh water for washing etc. and we will always do our best to make guests as comfortable as possible, but it’s safer to expect minimal facilities.
