FAQ & Important information

We’re very excited about this Tanzania & Zanzibar escape, but it’s very important to us that our information about this adventure is as clear as possible. We want to ensure that all potential guests are able to make an informed decision as to whether this is the right escape for them, so we’ve complied a list of FAQ’s, as well as additional information that we think is important to know before booking.

 FAQs

  • This is an 10 night, group adventure exploring the stunning landscapes, national parks & wildlife of Tanzania, before heading to the white sands and crystal clear waters of Zanzibar.

It is an immersive and adventurous experience exploring the amazing wildlife, natural beauty and cultures of this amazing African nation

  • Nights 1-6 will be spent in a mixture of “mid-range” properties and safari camps throughout mainland Tanzania:
    - Arusha
    - Lake Natron
    - Serengeti
    - Lake Ndutu
    - Lake Manyara
    - Arusha again

Nights 7-10 will be spent in a boutique beachfront hotel in Paje, Zanzibar.

Our “Shared accommodation” option is a single bed in a twin room. We decided to offer this to keep the escape more affordable for guests travelling solo, however private option is also available. Just select the “private” option upon booking.

  • No this experience is neither “luxury” or “budget”.
We specifically chose accommodation partners that offered beautiful yet affordable accommodation to ensure we can deliver a comfortable, enjoyable experience that can suit most people’s budgets.
All accommodation is what we would consider to be 3 star and above.

  • We will always try to accommodate where possible, and most (non-allergy) preferences should be easy enough to work with, however this will be discussed on a person by person basis.

Serious allergies and complex dietary needs can be difficult to manage in Africa due to often a lack of understanding from kitchen staff when it comes to contamination of certain foods/products. Our priority is always guest’s health as well as (of course) their enjoyment of the escape, therefore in some circumstances we may advise against people with allergies attending this escape.

  • One of our most frequently asked questions regarding travel to anywhere in Africa is whether it’s safe or not.

We want to be clear that it is our opinion that no country in the world is completely safe. There is crime and incidents in even the most developed countries so it’s hard to answer the question when applied specifically to Tanzania.
For the most part YES Tanzania & Zanzibar are both very safe places to be, and to travel. There is (however) always a small increased risk involved when travelling to developing countries.

We advise general situation awareness and normal safety practices that would be advised anywhere in the world (not travelling alone at night, not flaunting expensive possessions etc.).

Guests will also always be accompanied by a local guide or member of the team.

  • A large part of this escape is a safari/road trip through Tanzania so as expected there will be a good amount of driving (and exploring) the country in the vehicles.
There will however be plenty of stops, toilet breaks, activities, lunch breaks, and opportunities to get out of the cars.

Once we arrive in Zanzibar it’s all sun, sea and sand though!

  • Generally speaking most wildlife will try to avoid interaction with humans at all costs. Wild animals do not like approaching noise, fire and vehicles etc. so typically you won’t see anything alarming in the camps and lodges, but you may hear the thrilling call of a lion or hyenas in the night occasionally.
That being said there is wildlife around, so most camps and lodges ask you not to walk alone at night and will have a guard to walk with you to/from your tent/room.

  • The escape will start in Arusha and end in Zanzibar, both of which have international airports.
We therefore recommend guests book arrival flights to Kilimanjaro Airport (close to Arusha), and departure flights from Zanzibar.

You will also need to book an internal flight from Arusha to Zanzibar but can find out all the information you need on this by visiting our booking page
